This two-week trip is organized by mybackpackerguide and will be hosted by me :).

On our trip through Costa Rica, we will try to meet two to three different species of sea turtles. We hope to observe adults laying eggs on paradisiacal sandy beaches, keep watch over newly hatched babies on their dangerous journey to the sea, and also see individuals feeding or mating in the water.

This group volunteering experience in Costa Rica, with me as an experienced travel guide and sea turtle expert, will provide you with an incredible learning experience in a safe environment, so you can concentrate on saving sea turtles.

November 17th - 29th, 2024 (LANGUAGE - GERMAN + ENGLISH)
SEA TURTLE FIELD COURSE
Each year I run a two-week-long (sometimes three-week-long) immersive field course in sea turtle biology, ecology, and conservation for students at advanced undergraduate or early postgraduate level who have a keen interest, but little experience, in sea turtle research and conservation.
My courses provide practical training and first-hand experience on a sea turtle nesting beach and/or in an in-water research project, with an emphasis on building skills and understanding. They provide a valuable foundation for future independent research projects and a career in sea turtle conservation and research.
The new hybrid format of the courses now allows students to study the theory at home at their own pace and start the field course with a solid theoretical foundation (courses will go online in May 2024).
I run my courses in collaboration with grassroots conservation and research organizations in mainly Central and South America, ensuring they directly benefit the respective projects and at the same time can provide the professional experience I envision for my students.
